A Smell is Worth a Thousand Words.......
Saturday was a wild day in the life of our home. I went outside to send Sp off with a friend for the day; and suddenly I got a whiff ... not a good whiff either. It was a skunk. Somehow it got under the house and sprayed it. Yuk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is now Monday and the smell is somewhat fainter. Apparently, several people at church have had this experience. It just takes time - not good for this fast food society. One lady had her positive thought. It's nature's deoderizer. It takes care of every other smell in your house. That's one way to look at it. Apparently there have been 3 or 4 skunks in town. How nice of them to stop by and give our house the visit.

The One Pound Cake!!!!!
We took the girls to shop. We were able to meet up with some family friends. The kids all got free desserts with their meals, but the grown-ups didn't. So for a lark we picked out the chocolate cake to share. When the waitress brought it she told us it was their pound size. Oh my!! Who knew. We actually ended up leaving half of it. The four of us coudln't finish it by ourselves or getting sick.

Cross Country Division Meet
We are so proud of K. She placed 16th out of 50+ of the top 7th graders in our district. Just to be invited to go and compete was great. Her running time was used to help the 7th grade win district. If fact 7th, 8th, Jv, and Varsity girls swept district. We were so proud. To think that participating in Cross Country wasn't even a thought 2 months ago.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT
Everyone once in awhile our sweet precious dogs do something stupid. Today I left for 10 minutes to pick up the girls from school. OK it turned into 30 because I decided to treat the girls to Chicken E tea after school and we went to the post office. Anyway. I didn't take the trash sack outside. I walked in the backdoor and there was trash in the kitchen. Instead of us playing the name game with the dogs and cat it was obvious who the perpetrator was. Bless her heart, the Walmart sack around her neck and the grape jelly on her back were dead giveaways. She got to take a shower with Sp. It was hard to be mad. Instead, we grabbed the camera and had a laugh.

Pumpkin Patch is Here
Our church does a pumpkin patch for the community. Today the pumpkins arrived. People showed up to unload the truck. We had a great time. We unloaded 1200 pumpkins. The next few weeks we will sell them and invite the children to come. There are activities and opportunities for pictures. Boy, did we get dirty. Fall is here. It reminded me of Linus from Charlie Brown and the GREAT PUMPKIN.

3rd Cross Country Meet
K did an awesome job. She was in the top 5 for our team, so they used her time to calculate our place. It was a 2 mile run up a long hill. She did great. The girls get together and pray the Lord's Prayer on their own together before they run. I had to get a picture of her when she was leaving. I love the red uniform and pink purse. She's growing up.

State Fair
We took some students to the State Fair over the weekend and stayed at a dear friend's house. We were pleasantly surprised by some of our sweeties who showed up to say hi. We also ran into some of them at the fair. It was a great weekend to see old students and get to know some new students better. And much to Sh delight we were able to eat some fried oreos.
